We contacted a few of our Clients and asked them what they thought about the service we provided to them. Here’s what they had to say: ….
“To whom it may concern
I am a Queens Counsel practising in London. My speciality concerns real property with special reference to cases involving disputes about access to the countryside (public rights of way, village greens and commons). In the course of my work I have had occasion either to work directly with RCA or to recommend RCA to others requiring assistance on at least 6 occasions over the past few years, four of them during the past year. The disputes usually involve complex factual and legal issues, often with a historical dimension, that require meticulous and exacting analysis. RCA is one of the few firms in the country specialising in providing expert reports in these areas for use either in court or before Inspectors. Robin Carr himself brings a considerable body of experience to bear in fulfilling the requirements of his clients but always does so in a manner wholly consistent with his duty, as an expert, to be impartial. He also lectures to and writes articles for the Institute of Public Rights of Way Officers (IPROW) (as do I). As IPROW’s first Hon Fellow (appointed June 1993), I have considerable experience of the valuable work IPROW does to promote high standards in relation to the important work Rights of Way Officers do. Robin previously worked in local government himself, knows very well the pressures that officers are often under and does his considerable best, in his capacity as principal of RCA, to work constructively with IPROW and to support the work it does.
He is a credit to the profession he serves. I strongly endorse his application to be considered for a Rural Business Award for 2019/20.”

“Robin Carr Associates are quite simply the most able and authoritative practical experts in Public Highway matters that we have ever come across. As a firm we have recommended Robin to many clients and he has never let us down. Indeed, quite to the contrary, he has always added value and he is a pleasure to work with.”

“Robin is a true professional, he handled our case in meticulous detail right from the start. His knowledge and experience is impressive. Not only did he focus on the strengths of our case, he anticipated the challenges we might face and countered these challenges with fact and law. If it was not for Robin and his team we would not have been prepared to defend our position and ultimately win the case“.

“What we have learned from Robin has enabled us to get several of our footpaths in the parish opened up. Once the people in Lincs Highways realised that we knew the law better than them and were very determined, they caved in”.
Lucienne Bennet, Lincolnshire

“Staffordshire County Council has been working with Robin Carr Associates on public rights of way matters since 2018. In that time Robin and his team have worked hard to process a number of public path order applications. This is a discretionary power bestowed upon local authorities that allows public rights of way to be altered via a legal process on the Definitive Map and Statement. Examples of such applications can include: landowners who want to divert paths away from their property to improve privacy and security; minerals companies who need to divert paths to extend their workings; landowners and/or the County Council who want to alter the right(s) of way to improve the recreational experience for path users, and others.
The processing of these applications requires Robin to attend site meetings, adhere to legislative timescales, work to resolve any objections and answer any queries or concerns that may arise. Robin deals with all matters professionally and his wealth of experience and knowledge in the rights of way world is invaluable”.

“Robin and his company assisted my clients with a complex and highly contentious public right of way dispute as an expert witness. Robin was very prompt and helpful throughout, and played a key role in the overall legal team in assisting Counsel and myself with presenting the best arguments and evidence. As an expert, Robin’s reports were thorough and well-reasoned, and he performed extremely well under cross-examination. A genuine pleasure to work with.”

“Network Rail has used Robin Carr’s services on many occasions and has been impressed with his knowledge of Rights of Way matters and its application. It is a pleasure to work with him. Where Network Rail has experienced difficulties in progressing safety-led rail diversion Orders due to the backlog of cases and resource shortfalls within Councils, with Robin having a key understanding of public safety where rights cross the railway, Network Rail has recommended on several occasions for those Councils to utilise Robin’s services direct (with costs off-charged to the applicant) so that each order can be progressed fairly, quickly and efficiently to DfT’s recommended timescales.”
